Community Day or Bust!

By | May 8, 2025

Coming off of last year’s amazing Community Day, we’re very excited for this year’s IBM’s TechXchange Conference, which takes place on October 6-9 in Orlando, FL! With record attendance last year for both TechXchange and Community Day, the bar has been raised.  Last year, I had the opportunity to meet and network with so many new mainframers and finally meet many in person that I previously had only spoken to virtually, in addition to attending truly amazing technical sessions delivered by some of those very same folks.

The Open Mainframe Project will again be featured as part of Community Day, which will be held on Day 1 of the 2025 IBM TechXchange event.  On Monday, October 6th, attendees will be able to immerse themselves in everything Open Mainframe Project.  Whether it is Zowe, Galassa, Mentorship, Mainframe Open Education, COBOL Programming Course, Feilong, Software Discovery Tool, zopen Community, or others…there will be something for everyone.

Last year, we had a packed agenda and record-breaking attendance, and that was all to the credit of our amazing presenters.  If you are interested in joining those ranks and helping us break last year’s record, then you are in luck.  The Call for Presentations is officially open.  Bring your best presentation ideas forward and submit them here: https://bit.ly/4iWwhDH. The CFP will remain open through June 30th.

The Program Committee is excited to see your submissions.  Whether it is Zowe V3, Galasa, zopen Community, we know that the attendees will be excited to learn all about it.  Community Day at TechXchange is where you’re going to want to be.

The timeline for the CFP:

  • CFP opens: Thursday, May 8, 2025
  • Deadline to submit CFP: Monday, June 30, 2025, at 11 pm PDT
  • Speaker notifications: Monday, July 21, 2025
  • Schedule announcement: Week of August 8, 2025

Watch this space because we will be sending out more information in the coming days and weeks.   In the meantime, get your presentation submissions in, and if presenting is not for you, then register.  We look forward to seeing you all there.

Submit your CFP here.

Open Mainframe Project is planning the content for October 6 as it pertains to the Community Day or Pre-Conference Day. The Linux Foundation and Open Mainframe Project are not managing TechXchange. The main TechXchange event is planned and managed by IBM. Learn more about TechXchange here.
