Wednesday, June 5:
At 8 AM, join Tim Willging, Distinguished Engineer from Rocket Software & Denis Tronin, Sr. Principal Product Manager at Broadcom for their presentation “Introduction to Zowe! An overview of all the value Zowe brings, including a demonstration“. In their presentation, attendees will hear about the biggest challenges that’s facing mainframe in 2019. Attendees will also receive an overview of open source languages and tools for the mainframe and an overview of the Zowe framework.
At 9:20 AM, join Sean Grady, Software Engineer at Rocket Software and Sujay Solomon, Product Manager from Broadcom for their presentation, “It’s Open Source! A look under the hood at the Zowe architecture“. Join Sujay and Sean as they explain the architecture of the Zowe framework. Attendees will learn how the architecture components communicate with one another, and how Zowe services drive modern mainframe actions.
At 10:40 AM, join Sean Grady from Rocket Software & Michael Bauer, Sr. Product Owner of Broadcom for their presentation, “Re-envisioning old workflows with new technologies“. Michael and Sean will demonstrate how Zowe can simplify common administrative tasks.
At 1 PM join John Mertic with the Linux Foundation for an overview of how “Open Source is Modernizing the Mainframe.” This session will cover how an “open mainframe” is the perfect solution for deploying open source on an enterprise computing platform. You will learn how the open source community has gathered around the mainframe platform and how open source projects such as Zowe and OpenStack Cloud Connector are the starting point for open development. The session will also cover how the mainframe platform is a natural technology for Linux deployments, and how the mainframe community operates within the wider construct of the Linux Foundation.
On Thursday, June 6 at 8 AM join Barry Barker, Vice President of IBM Z Software at IBM, Anjali Arora, Chief Product Officer from Rocket Software & David Stokes, Senior Director of R&D from Broadcom and John Mertic, Director of Program Management at the Linux Foundation, for their keynote address, “Building Next-Gen Applications with IBM Db2 and Zowe.” The address will discuss how OMP members worked together to open up the mainframe to narrow the skills gap & enable application developers to use the tools of their choice.
