Across the open source ecosystem, countless contributors have enabled software packages for s390x, but thousands of projects still lack binaries, containers, or packages. Organizations across the mainframe ecosystem have long maintained their own build scripts and patches, with no shared, neutral home for this work.
The Open Mainframe Project’s Mainframe Software Hub for Linux gives these efforts a centralized release mechanism so that binaries, containers, and packages for s390x can be found (and contributed to) in one place.
The Hub consolidates build scripts and patches into a single extensible system that:
- provides a vendor-neutral home for community build efforts
- publishes releases through GitHub’s standard release mechanism
- supports binaries, DEB packages, RPM packages, and container images
This project offers developers a meaningful, high-impact way to contribute to the s390x open source ecosystem and help others find the software they need. All work is released under the Apache 2.0 license. Get involved today!
