Honoring one of my heroes for Women’s History Month

By | March 14, 2025

March is Women’s History Month, a time to celebrate the incredible contributions of women across all industries. It’s also an opportunity to reflect on the women who have personally influenced our journeys.

As I think about the path I’ve taken, I am deeply grateful for the women who have influenced, mentored and supported me. From role models I’ve admired from afar to those who have worked alongside me, their resilience, wisdom, and encouragement have been instrumental in my growth.

One name stands out for me this year – Mari Adamson-Bray, the previous Publisher of Tech Channel and MSPC Content Marketing Agency. After several decades of leadership, Mari has decided to quietly step away from the spotlight and into retirement.

A Mentor and Inspiration

Mari is someone whose guidance, wisdom, and leadership have left an indelible mark on my career. I initially met her through my work with the Open Mainframe Project but got to know her better when I joined the Making Our Strong Community Stronger Initiative in 2021. Her ability to navigate challenges with grace and determination has been inspiring and motivating. Whether through direct mentorship, professional collaboration, or leading by example, Mari has shown me what it means to be a strong and compassionate leader in the tech world.

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned from Mari is small gestures have a big impact. A simple act—such as acknowledging a colleague’s efforts, offering help without being asked, or listening when someone needs support—can transform a workplace into a thriving environment.

Kindness fosters trust, reduces stress, and creates a culture where people feel valued. It also has a ripple effect: when you are kind, others are more likely to pay it forward. Mari led with kindness, even in competitive or high-pressure environments. That often resulted in stronger relationships and long-term success.

Within the four years I’ve worked with her, Mari has pushed me to grow in ways I never expected. She has not only championed my successes but has also provided unconditional support during difficult times.

The Importance of Honoring Women Who Pave the Way

Women’s History Month is not just about celebrating the past; it’s about recognizing the ongoing contributions of women who continue to shape industries and uplift others. Mari has done exactly that for me, and I am incredibly grateful for her impact.

As we celebrate this month, I encourage everyone to take a moment to honor the women and organizations that have influenced them. Whether through mentorship, advocacy, or innovation, their contributions deserve recognition.

Who are the women who have impacted your career? Let’s celebrate them together.
