Feilong is an open source z/VM cloud connector project under the Open Mainframe Project umbrella that will accelerate the z/VM adoption, extending its ecosystem and its user experience. The project met several milestones last year:
- 104 pull requests were merged into the project source code throughout the year
- Three Feilong presentations were done by community members at the following events (VM Workshop, SHARE Columbus and Open Mainframe Summit)
- The Feilong Technical Steering Committee met regularly the second Wednesday of the month using the alternating start times to include global community members (9am EST odd months and 9PM EST even months)
Our first Feilong Technical Steering Committee in 2023 was different then past meetings. Thinking about fun and excitement for learning, the meeting was devoted to a live session that demonstrated the set up and use Feilong. There were 13 attendees with most being new attendees to the Technical Steering Committee meeting. You can watch the demo here:
A key goal in 2023 is to grow project membership and involvement by promoting the Feilong project through events, presentations and sponsoring project mentorships.
