IBM, CA Technologies and Rocket Software have decided to give z / OS, the flagship OS of IBM mainframes , a second wind through the Zowe open source project. Objective: provide the OS with an open source framework on which to rely to develop modern applications, with modern technologies, and open it to younger profiles. In short, prepare z / OS for the transformation when, in fact, IBM mainframes are still powering a number of critical processes – particularly in the telcos, banking and insurance sectors.
