SUMMARY:Open Mainframe Project's Zowe Virtual Hackathon
DESCRIPTION:Open Mainframe Project is planning its first-ever Virtual Hackathon for the developer community that aims to educate students\, engineers and makers around the world about the Zowe framework and how it can be used to create enterprise applications. \nThe inaugural Virtual Hackathon will take place on Sunday\, February 23 and extended to Thursday\, April 30 and is open to anyone who would like to participate and create a team. Teams (between 2-8 members) can register together and submit their current project or something new. The only condition is for the project to be Zowe related. \nTo register your team\, please click here: http://www.cvent.com/d/ynql8z/4W \nOnce all the projects are submitted by April 5\, Open Mainframe Project will host a webinar where each team will have a short slot to present their project. Leading solutions and projects will be featured in a virtual meetup and blog. They’ll also be invited to attend Open Mainframe Summit on September 17-17 in New York City at no cost to the participant. All participants will receive a unique digital badge indicating that they have contributed to this hackathon. \nLearn more about Open Mainframe Summit here: https://events.linuxfoundation.org/open-mainframe-summit/. \nExamples of potential Zowe projects: \n\n\n\n\n●  An enhancement or addition to the Zowe ecosystem\, perhaps a feature you might have been missing in it. \n●  A project to build something of your own on top of Zowe\, or leveraging Zowe. \n●  If you have an product of your own\, it could be an enhancement to make it compatible with Zowe\, or Zowe extension for your product. \nA good example of a project that started in a hackathon is the Zowe Mobile App\, which initially started as a hackathon project within Open Mainframe Project member Broadcom. Broadcom had an internal hackathon\, this app was presented and it was recently accepted as a part of the Zowe project. Please read more about the app and how it was created in this article. \n Criteria for project presentations: \n●  Potential business value \n●  Blog/Vlog quality \n●  Innovation/creativity/fun \n●  Learning \n●  Finished product \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you need help\, please reach out to using the #virtualhackathon channel on the Open Mainframe Project Slack. OMP Zowe community members will answer all questions and offer support to the registered participants during the hackathon.
